What is Bivvy?

Have a dog or cat you want to protect? Sign your furry friend up for Bivvy pet insurance!


As the first of its kind in the insurance industry, Bivvy offers affordable coverage while eliminating the complicated schedule of benefits offered by many insurance companies. How many pets can I have on this policy?

Bivvy will cover one pet per policy. Have multiple pets? You can open a policy for each of your cats and dogs.

How do I get a policy for another pet?

Simply log in to your account and select "Add a Pet" for each additional dog or cat that you'd like to cover.

Can't find your pet's breed?

Not a problem. Simply select our mixed breed option for the corresponding weight of your pet. Bivvy covers all pet breeds. You do not need to select a breed option for cats.

Where can I find a copy of my policy?

You can access an electronic copy of your policy at any time by logging into your account. You may also email us at team@bivvy.com to obtain a copy.

How can I update my contact information?

Simply visit your online account, navigate to the profile tab and update what’s new! Want help? Email us at team@bivvy.com and we can change your information on our end too.

How do I update my payment information?

This can be done through your online account. Log on to your profile, navigate to your Payments tab and click on the Update link. You'll receive a confirmation email after the update has been made to your account.

How do I contact customer service?

Does my pet need a vet exam to qualify for coverage?

No, all you need to do is sign them up online.

An incident is any illness or accident that results in veterinary care for your pet.

What is not included in Bivvy’s coverage?

We have nothing to hide. We want you to know what is and isn’t covered by our policy after the waiting period.


Bivvy has a 14-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses and a waiting period for dogs' orthopedic conditions.

Why are pre-existing conditions excluded?

As with all pet insurance policies, we exclude pre-existing conditions. This means a condition that first occurred or showed clinical signs before your pet's coverage started or before the end of the applicable waiting period.

When does my coverage go into effect?

Bivvy has a 14-day waiting period for accidents and illnesses. For dogs, orthopedic conditions have a waiting period. We have waiting periods to protect all our customers from fraudulent claims. Some people try to have pet insurance pay for an already sick or injured pet and that wouldn’t be fair.

What’s the difference between coinsurance and reimbursements?

What is a deductible?

Sometimes insurance policies include a deductible, which is a specific amount of money policyholders have agreed to pay themselves (“out-of-pocket”) before their insurance protection kicks in. Typically, policies with high deductibles (out-of-pocket costs) have lower premiums (monthly costs). For Bivvy, the deductible is $250.

Will my pet’s coverage drop at a certain age?

No, your pet’s coverage is not dependent on age.

How do I renew my policy?

We’re happy to see you’re considering renewing your policy! Your policy will renew automatically each year as long as the required premium is paid and we approve.

How do I cancel my policy?

We’d be sad to see you go! But to cancel your policy you can log in to your account and select ‘cancel’. Have questions? Send us an email at team@bivvy.com!

Can I take my pet to any veterinarian?

Absolutely! It's important for you to be able to take your pet to a trusted provider. You may go to any licensed veterinary practice, emergency hospital or specialist.

How do I submit a claim?

Should your pet have to make a trip to the vet, we'll hope they feel better soon. But rest assured, we've made submitting a claim quick and easy.


Submitting a claim can be done online by logging into your account. Once a claim is submitted we’ll start reviewing your claim information ASAP.

How long will it take to process my claim?

We pride ourselves on quick approvals! We begin reviewing claims within one business day of being filed. Once we have all requested documentation, a claim decision can be made within minutes.

Is there a limit to how many claims I can submit?
